Jazz violinist Babe Egan (1897-1966) had a band called The Hollywood Redheads that toured the vaudeville and theater circuits throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia, from 1924 until 1940. She started an all-girl band in 1924 of California women-mostly teenagers-who became vaudeville superstars. They were vaudeville superstars until 1933, and did two year-long tours of Europe. At the end of her life she was a resident of Rockhaven Sanitarium in Montrose.
