The History of Early Los Angeles

Monday, June 18th 7:00pm
La Crescenta Center for Spiritual Living
At the intersection of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta

The presentation traces the history of Los Angeles from its founding as a pueblo of 44 people in 1781 through California’s statehood in 1850.
It also reveals the factors that allowed the pueblo of only 1500 people at the time of statehood to become the metropolis of
over 4 million that Los Angeles is today.

The presenters are Bruce Phillips, EdD, and Katy Phillips, MS. Both are native Californians and retired educators. Bruce and Katy are members
of Los Angelitas del Pueblo; a group of volunteers who lead tours of the historic El Pueblo de Los Angeles (Olvera Street is part of the pueblo).
