Barlow Sanatorium Tour
Friday, June 23rd at 10:00am
The Crescenta Valley was founded on TB sanitariums, starting in the 1880's through the 1950's. None of them survives today. However, Barlow Sanatorium in Los Angeles is a historical remnant of that era of our history. It was founded by Dr. Barlow in 1902, in the same period that sanitariums flourished in our area. Still treating lung diseases today, Barlow Sanatorium is a living monument that mirrors our heritage.
We will be touring the grounds and hearing some of its history.
2000 Stadium Way, Los Angeles. Park on the street, or in their parking lot. Should be plenty of parking. We will meet at Williams Hall. You will see signage to direct you there.
After the Barlow tour we'll experience another piece of LA history by having lunch at the LA Police Department Academy's Cafeteria. Built in 1934 and located right next to the LAPD shooting range, the cafeteria is open to the public for breakfast and lunch. We'll caravan there from Barlow.
