Rockhaven Sanitarium is the last remaining example of the many sanitariums that once flourished in CV. Built in 1923, it was a mental health facility just for women. It was a rarity for its time in that the patients were treated with dignity and loving care.
The old sanitarium covers 3 1/2 acres and includes 14 buildings. It has changed little since it was built in the '20s and '30s, and it is a veritable time capsule. Come tour this treasure. Wear good walking shoes, and liability wavers must be signed by all attendees. The tours will be small - limited to 20 people for each tour - and, this is a "members only" tour.
