Crescenta Valley Floods: Then and Now

Monday January 17th, 7pm

This valley was built by floods! From prehistoric times right up into the present, floods and mudslides have shaped our neighborhoods. Our local "flood expert" Art Cobery will bring us up to speed on the floods of the 20th century, including news of a newly discovered "flood survivor" who has an amazing survival story to tell. Then we'll watch some dramatic never before seen footage of our most recent flood, the 2010 Paradise Valley flood. That destructive mudflow took place when a boulder jammed the Mullally debris basin last year, and damaged or destroyed several homes at the top of Ocean View.

This photo from Ben Edwards shows some of the damage from a small debris flow that pushed through the Paradise Valley neighborhood in 2010.
