La Canada Congregational Church was founded in 1897, and was immortalized by the Poet Laureate of California John McGroarty as "The Church of the Lighted Window". Its early congregation reads like a who's who of the history of La Canada, including the founding family, the Lantermans. The church is noted as having some of the most spectacular stained glass in Los Angeles, including works from Judson Studios and Los Angeles Art Glass, along with more contemporary stained glass works from France.
We'll have a tour of the church with church historians Dick and Sally Emerson, and we'll get a demonstration of the power of the church's big pipe organ from organist Joe Klice.
