What better way to enjoy a hot August night than to watch a good Christmas movie? We'll spend an evening watching the 1945 romantic comedy "Christmas in Conneticut" starring Dennis Morgan, Barbara Stanwyck and Sydney Greenstreet, and we'll be showing it outdoors in the very park that Dennis Morgan created, Two Strike Park.
Bring along lawn chairs and a blanket, and maybe a picnic dinner to enjoy this special evening. Before the movie we'll talk a little about Dennis Morgan's life, we'll meet his granddaughter who will also be attending, and invite a few of you to share your memories of Dennis Morgan as well.
Dennis Morgan was one of the top male stars in the '40s and '50s, and more importantly, was a Crescenta Valley resident. He was active in local affairs and was very popular, being dubbed the Mayor of CV. In the '50s he saw a need for more parks for the growing population, and so launched a series of celebrity baseball games to raise money to purchase land. He purchased and donated Two Strike Park to the County for the enjoyment of the residents of Crescenta Valley.
