This Month's Meeting:

Tales from the Cemetary

Monday May 20th, 7pm
At the Center For Spiritual Living
(formerly known as the La Crescenta Church of Religious Science)
Located on the corner of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta

Civil War scholar and Pasadena city librarian Nick Smith at the Mountain View Cemetary in Altadena.
Nick Smith has spent the last several years studying dead people. More specifically, he's been researching the veterans and pioneers buried in several local cemeteries, especially Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena. That cemetery includes as many as 700 Civil War veterans, as well as other interesting figures from the early days of Pasadena and the Crescenta Valley. There's also the still-mysterious Theodor Pickens...

Upcoming Event:

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Saturday April 27th, 10am
6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood (between Gower and Van Ness)

Come join our favorite tour guide EJ Stephens as he walks us through the beautiful, old and serene final resting place of pioneers of Los Angeles and Hollywood Films! The Chandlers (of the Los Angeles Times) and the Chaplins, Griffith J Griffith and both Douglas Fairbanks', Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer and Joey Ramone, and many many more (did I mention Bugsey Segal?!) Walk the history of our fair city through the memorials of those who created it, and mausoleums nicer than most houses!

Meet inside the cemetery in front of the Cathedral Mausoleum. There's plenty of parking there. The mausoleum is easy to find. Once you go in the gates you keep heading left until you see the lake. The mausoleum is in front of the lake.

We will do a tour that will last about two hours.

Regular meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the the Center for Spiritual Living, formerly known as the La Crescenta Church of Religious Science located at the intersection of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta.
