Civil War scholar and Pasadena city librarian Nick Smith at the Mountain View Cemetary in Altadena.

Nick Smith has spent the last several years studying dead people. More specifically, he's been researching the veterans and pioneers buried in several local cemeteries, especially Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena. That cemetery includes as many as 700 Civil War veterans, as well as other interesting figures from the early days of Pasadena and the Crescenta Valley.
