Co-sponsored by the Crescenta Valley Arts Council and the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley
Some of the most spectacular architecture, art and music comes from our local churches. We have hand picked four samples of our beautiful local churches for a guided tour.
La Crescenta Presbyterian, the earliest church in the valley, started by Benjamin Briggs in the 1880's will showcase their tremendous pipe organ.
Holy Redeemer Catholic Church was completely rebuilt a few years ago, maintaining their historic exterior, but modernizing inside and restoring their beautiful Judson Studios stained glass.
St. Lukes Anglican Church is the architectural icon of the valley, with its native stone construction, will talk about their Watchorn Chimes that have provided background music to La Crescenta for 80 years.
We'll finish the tour at the Church of the Lighted Window in La Canada, with their fascinating history, from the "Dance Wars" of the 1800's to famous founders and parishioners like the Lanterman family and Senator Frank Flint.
We'll start at La Crescenta Presbyterian, then move as a group to Holy Redeemer, and so on. Spend an hour at each church, enjoying the art and architecture and hearing a short presentation, then self-drive to the next.
Meet at La Crescenta Presbyterian, 2902 Montrose Ave. at 9:00. This tour is free.
